Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japan) - Cheats and secrets
• Continue on the same world: after losing all lives, hold A and press Start on the title screen to continue from the world where you died (first time only).
• In level 1-2, after leaving the underground area, walk along the ceiling past the flagpole zone and use the warp zone to jump directly to world 2, 3 or 4.
• In 4-2 there is another hidden warp zone similar to the classic first game's 1-2: get on the ceiling using the mushroom near the end to warp to later worlds.
• To reach the ceiling warp, use the mushroom to grow and bounce off the wall or ceiling at the right spot; it is the most famous trick in the game.
• Luigi jumps higher and farther than Mario but slides more while running: use him for the hardest jumps if you are struggling.
• Strong winds in some levels can push you mid-jump: time your jumps carefully or wait for the wind to stop before long leaps.
• Poison mushrooms shrink you or kill you depending on your state, so don't mistake power-ups by their similar look.
• Keep holding B to run: many windy or narrow-platform jumps require a full running start and a late jump.
